The future is looking bright for our increasingly successful Ladies section. Fiona Carter and Joanna Richmond, who are both sixth form students, have joined the club and are already making their mark at the mix ins. In addition, the club's mission to make tennis available to all ages and all standards is being fulfilled with the additon to the membership of two fine young players, Pav and Charlie. Both have a good level of natural ability, speed around the court and a keenness to learn. It won't be long before they are challenging the more established adults.

We also want LOTS of club photos, especially of the winning ladies teams, the social events (on and off court), the men's team too even without trophies(!) and we'll also be looking for sponsorship to help fund the site and the general running of the tennis club.

Dana is studying A levels at Comberton Village College while her family is back in Germany. She has a mean forehand, is quick around the court and always plays with a smile on her face!

Saturday 10 Dec Mix In - weather update

I have checked the courts and at 8am they were quite icy and too dangerous to play on so I suggest the mix in is called off, however, any players wishing to arrange some play amongst themselves later in the day when the frost has gone can log in to the members area and post a new topic on the forum which other players can respond to.

Too Icy to Play at 8.30 so Mix In is OFF, However feel free to contact other members of the club by adding a Topic in the Forum inviting folk to play later if the conditions improve (you will need to log in). Last week a couple of us had a really good match in the winter sunshine, so if you fancy a run around instead of going Christmas shopping put it on the Forum.

Mix In can start at the usual time. I have checked the playing surface and although there is a frost the surface is not slippery. And what a glorious spectacular start to the day it is too. Hope to see you all there.

Saturday Mix In 4th Feb weather update

Lookout for a weather update just after 7.30am on Saturday morning. Just because it's cold the courts might be playable. Two weeks ago it was minus 6C but there was no frost on the court so it was completely playable and the 10 of us who turned out had a great session in beautiful conditions. If the courts are a bit slippery but the sun is out then we may delay the start time.

Saturday 4th Feb MIX IN IS ON!

It is one of those lovely cold sunny winter mornings but the courts ARE TOTALLY playable. I hope to see you shortly after 8.30am. Hats advised for the follicly challenged. Two weeks ago it was colder but we still had a good session.

Welcome to Jo and Mark from Girton who have just joined the club. Although technically they joined today (4th Feb) they've already demonstrated they like their tennis tough by turning out two weeks ago when the temperature was on minus 6C. Today when the starting temperature was MINUS 8 C they were back for more!

Wednesday 8th Feb MIX IN IS OFF

No prizes for guessing why. The courts are still covered with snow and there's little prospect of a thaw today and temperatures are predicted to plummet again tonight. Temperature is not a problem for some of us if it isn't icy, which sadly it will be tonight.

Watch this space if Saturday's weather looks doubtful too.

Saturday 11th February MIX IN SNOWED OFF

Have a nice lie in on Saturday morning because there's no chance of tennis. It's snowy and freezing and for once I won't be fighting off the duvet to check the court conditions at 7.30am.

Hope to see you all on Wednesday - weather permitting. Look out for details of the Indoor Session at Hills Road later this month.
